91. Sophie's Choice (1982)

7.5/10

I wasn’t expecting to like this movie, but I really did. I have known about the pivotal scene for a really long time, but most of the movie really isn’t about that. I loved Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline’s performances. They were really mesmerizing. A lot of the movie is in “modern” (as in Post-War) times, and it is about the Holocaust without really taking place during the Holocaust for most of the film. I found myself loving Kevin Kline’s character even in his terrifying craziness, which just shows how great of an actor he is. And Meryl Streep overall is incredible, in every role she plays. Her accent and acting is wonderful, and you really do believe that she is Polish. This movie has a lot of twists that keep it exciting as well, which I won’t spoil.

I actually highly recommend this movie, though it is a little long. It is definitely historically significant and worth seeing!
