To be honest, I didn't like this film very much.
I found that the low budget and general lack of ingenuity in this film were pretty apparent, but I do think it was worth the watch if for nothing else but to see the difference between "A-movies" (anticipated box-office hits that studios invested lots of money in) and "B-movies" (lower budget moves that were considered reliable investments for studios).
Although pretty kitschy, the concept is a little clever and I can see how it would appeal to audiences in regards to the looming Cold War. However, I think the Communist-alien comparison is a bit distasteful and propaganda-y. I also thought the characters were quite shallow but the acting was okay and the suspense was pretty fun. Overall it was entertaining enough but definitely not up to the level of the other films I've watched... but I guess no B-movie can really compete with the quality of A-movies.
